Azabudai Hills Summer Evening Festival
Hello everyone, this is Keko from the online staff at Nakamura Tokichi.
From August 8th (Fri) to 11th (Mon, holiday), we had the pleasure of joining the Summer Evening Festival held at Azabudai Hills Central Plaza.
Each evening, from 4:00 PM until nightfall, the plaza was filled with the festive sounds of laughter, food stalls, and the scent of delicious creations. A total of 12 stalls—including 3 newcomers—offered menus carefully selected from popular restaurants, cafés, and sweet shops at Azabudai Hills. Visitors could enjoy their favorite flavors while feeling the summer breeze.
For this special occasion, Nakamura Tokichi prepared a festival-exclusive treat:
Uji Kintoki Shaved Ice [Matcha] (¥1,300).
We crafted a special matcha syrup blending “Sen’un no Shiro”, Wasanbon sugar, and a touch of salt—creating a harmony of sweetness, depth, and refreshing clarity.
With each spoonful, the aroma of matcha rises gently, followed by the delicate sweetness of Wasanbon. Just as the flavor lingers, the salt note softly cleanses the palate, leaving behind a clear, refreshing aftertaste—perfect for cooling down from the summer heat.
Many visitors returned more than once, saying, “It was so delicious, I had to come back.” Despite rainy weather toward the end, the festival lived up to its name, offering everyone a cool, joyful summer evening.
It was truly heartwarming to see so many people enjoy our matcha in this seasonal way, and we are grateful to have become part of their summer memories.
We will continue to share the beauty of Japanese tea with you—through every season, in every cup.
