Gyokuro Parfait Experience
Hello everyone 😊
This is Keko from the online team.
Gyokuro is a tea meant to be savored slowly.
With lower water temperatures, gently brewed,
and enjoyed one sip at a time, allowing its rich umami to unfold.
For many, it is a tea associated with quiet, mindful moments.
At our Nakamura Tokichi Kyoto Store,
we offer a new way to experience the charm of gyokuro—
not only by drinking it, but by tasting it in another form.
This is what we call “experiencing gyokuro through food.”

One of our signature café offerings, the “Maruto Parfait,”
has been reimagined for a limited time,
placing gyokuro at the center of the experience.
Within this single dessert lies the layered depth of gyokuro.
Each component has been thoughtfully created
to exist in harmony with the tea.
Begin with a single spoonful.
Taste the specially crafted gyokuro ice cream on its own.
The moment it touches your palate,
a gentle sweetness appears, followed by the quiet expansion of umami.
Then comes the gyokuro cream—
lightly sweetened to enhance the natural depth of the tea.
The addition of granola introduces a roasted aroma,
bringing both texture and a sense of rhythm to the experience.
As you combine elements such as gyokuro sweet bean paste
and gyokuro jelly,
the layers of umami deepen,
and each bite reveals a new expression.
Eventually, the refreshing notes of Japanese sansho pepper
and grapefruit rise softly,
adding brightness and lifting the richness of the flavors.
The soft texture of matcha chiffon cake,
the smooth richness of milk soft serve,
and the gentle presence of dashi-infused gyokuro.
Each element does not stand alone—
they come together, layer by layer,
to form a single, cohesive experience.
Gyokuro, not only to drink, but to taste.
With each bite,
its umami and lingering finish reveal themselves in new ways.
Tea is something we drink.
At least, that is what we often assume.
But this experience may gently shift that perception.
“Ah, so this is another way to enjoy it.”
Such discoveries are part of the joy of tea.
In the midst of Kyoto Station,
take a moment to pause.
And experience gyokuro in a different way.
Perhaps this moment will open the door
to a broader world of Japanese tea.
We warmly invite you to enjoy this “edible gyokuro” experience
at our newly renewed Kyoto Store.
