Kyoto Station Renewal

Hello everyone 😊
This is Keko from the online team.

Kyoto Station is a place where countless people pass through each day.
It is where journeys begin and end, where everyday life meets something a little out of the ordinary.

Within this space, you will find our Nakamura Tokichi Kyoto Store.

Since opening in 2008, the store has welcomed many visitors over the years.
Now, we have renewed this space with a new perspective.

This renewal is not simply about updating aging facilities.

It began with a question:
What kind of tea experience do we want to offer—now and in the future?

Over the past 15 years, the world surrounding Japanese tea has changed significantly.
The ways people enjoy it, how it is shared, and the relationship between tea and people have all evolved.

Amid these changes, we found ourselves reflecting once again on what lies beyond simply “drinking tea.”

Not just how it tastes, but
where it is enjoyed, and
what kind of moment it creates.

We wanted to rethink the experience itself.

Although located within the lively atmosphere of Kyoto Station,
once you step inside, the air begins to feel different.

What flows here is the quiet sense of time found in Uji.

The scenery of tea fields.
The gentle flow of the river.
The soft mist rising in the air.

These elements, nurtured in Uji where our main store stands,
are subtly reflected in this space.

This is not only a place to drink tea,
nor simply a place to choose products.

It is a place where you can feel the background of tea—
the land, the process, and the passage of time behind it.

Kyoto Station is, for many, a place to pass through.

That is exactly why we wanted to create a moment to pause.

A place where, even within the flow of movement,
you can take a breath and return to yourself.

This is one of the forms we aimed to create through this renewal.

Tea exists within everyday life.

And yet, a single cup can gently change the way we experience time.

If this space at Kyoto Station can become a small doorway to such moments,
we would be truly happy.

We hope you will visit our newly renewed Kyoto Store
and experience its atmosphere for yourself.

We look forward to welcoming you.
