New Season, New Tea. Shincha 2025 is Coming Soon.

Hello, everyone! This is Keko from the online team 😊

Every year in early May, Japan welcomes a new season of tea.
It’s called Shincha, or “new tea” — the very first harvest of the year.

When I was a child, I didn’t know what Shincha meant.
But I remember singing a song every spring without really thinking about it:

"Summer is coming, the 88th night,
Green leaves grow on hills and in fields…”

It’s a Japanese children’s song about tea picking season — a beautiful time when the tea fields are full of fresh green leaves, and tea farmers begin their harvest.

Now that I work in the world of Japanese tea,
I find myself humming that same song every year as Shincha season begins again.
People around me often say, “You must really love this time of year,” and… they’re absolutely right 😊

🍃 What is Shincha?
Shincha is unlike any other green tea.
It’s vibrant, delicate, and packed with the energy of spring.
The young leaves absorb nutrients during the winter and awaken under the early summer sun,
bringing a wonderfully fresh aroma and smooth, sweet flavor.

Because it’s harvested only once a year, it’s a very special tea—both for those who grow it and those who enjoy it.

🌱 Coming Soon to Our Global Store
We’re happy to share that our 2025 Shincha will be available internationally in early May.
While it’s already available for pre-order in Japan, our global customers will be able to purchase it as soon as it’s ready to ship fresh from Uji, Kyoto.

Please stay tuned!

In the meantime, let’s enjoy the changing season together—and maybe even hum a little tea-picking song 😊
